What is the difference and benefits of organic cotton? TOP
When we think of cotton we imagine white soft and cuddly clouds, where you could lay your head and rest all day…. But cotton today is far from our imaginings. The average 100% cotton t-shirt is really only 73% cotton and the other 27% is made out of chemicals (it takes approximately 17 teaspoons of pesticides to grow the cotton for only one t-shirt).
Today Cotton crops use more chemicals per area than any other crop. Coming up to 25% of the world’s pesticides. The chemicals used to process cotton also pollute the air and water. And some believe residual chemicals in cotton may irritate consumer’s skin; not only that they are consider to be carcinogenic and may affect the nervous and reproductive systems (World Health Organization’s list).
That is why we BELIEVE and absolutely LOVE organic cotton, no yucky stuff. Just plain, pure, soft cotton. Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides and the plants are not genetically modified.
By wearing organic cotton you not only ensure the best quality fabric near your and your loved ones skin, but you also do something nice for the environment.

What is water base ink printing? TOP
Water based ink are non-toxic, lead-free and do not contain any heavy metals. And that is why we choose them, because we know they are safe to be used on any type of t-shirt, specially those used by our little ones.
All our shirts and printed items are made using water base inks (water base screen-printing, the environmental alternative). Water based ink screen-printing doesn’t contain PVC nor phthalates and this makes them an environmentally friendly choice.
For your information PVC and phthalates not only destroy the environment but they have also been linked with many types of cancer, mental disorders, and infertility.

health problems. The ban on phthalate makes California the first U.S. state to
impose severe limits on a chemical that is widely used in baby bottles, soft

2009, any product made for young children that contains more than one tenth of
one percent of phthalates cannot be made, sold or distributed in California...."

What is Pima Cotton? TOP
Our Pima collection is made out of 100% Organic Pima Cotton. Pima Cotton, Gossypium barbadense, is the finest and most appreciated type of cotton in the world. It originates in northern Peru, and is longest fiber grown worldwide. The special luster and extreme softness of Pima cotton are the result of wax produces by the fiber to cover itself due to the low levels of moisture in the coastal arid regions of Peru.
Due to its superb fiber quality, Pima cotton has been used for year to manufacture luxurious high end products. MamaOm has taken Pima cotton to the next level; we use 100% Organic Pima cotton, which have been grown, processed and manufactured using fair trade practices. We believe all, especially those little ones around you, should feel the softness of Pima cotton.
